Holy Name of Mary, Valley Stream

The top photo is taken from the intersection of East Jamaica Avenue and South Grove Street, which happens to be a block east of Valley Stream's business district on Rockaway Avenue.  The church has two naves, joined at the altar.  The second photo shows the principal nave.  Doors to East Jamaica Avenue are behind the photographer.  To the left of the altar is another nave, with doors to South Grove Street. 

Across from the church is the parish elementary school at 90 South Grove Street, Valley Stream, NY 11580, telephone 516-825-4009.  The school's website is linked here. An excellent, upbeat news article in the Long Island Herald on 4.27.2012 states that the K-8 enrollment is 274.

Sister Elizabeth Marie was principal of the school from 1997 to 2005.

Blessed Sacrament, Valley Stream

The rectory, to the left of the church, does not include the parish offices, which face North Central Avenue.  A non-profit day care center has rented part of what was formerly the parish elementary school on Rose Avenue.  The Huntington Learning Center corporation also uses some of the building.

Brentwood Josephites taught in the school from its foundation in 1957 until its recent closure.  The cornerstone to the right of the church entrance reads 1963.

Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Point Lookout

In Point Lookout, the church of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal faces south.  To the right is Parkside Drive, which travels north only about 50 yards to the only traffic signal in the hamlet of Point Lookout. The address is 75 Parkside Drive, Post Office Box 20, Point Lookout, NY 11569, telephone 516-431-2772.  The parish website is linked here.

If the above description of the streets is not clear, let me rephrase it.  All traffic enters the small community of Point Lookout eastbound.  At the first and only traffic signal, turn right onto Parkside Drive.  You will soon see the church.

There are two parishes in the Diocese of Rockville Centre under the patronage of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.  In 1936, the OLMM parish in Wyandanch, Suffolk County, was established, followed the next year by the establishment of this OLMM parish in Point Lookout.

Point Lookout has a population of about 1,500.

St. Mary of the Isle, Long Beach

The parish of St. Mary of the Isle stands on the south side of East Park Avenue at Monroe Boulevard, Long Beach, New York, three blocks east of the Long Beach railroad station and the city center.  This view shows the church, the parish center to the right, and the rectory at 315 East Walnut Street, Long Beach, NY 11561, telephone 516-432-0157.  The parish website is liked here.

St. Paul the Apostle, Brookville

Established in 1962, the parish of St. Paul the Apostle is located at 2534 Cedar Swamp Road (NY highway 107), Brookville, New York 11545, telephone 516-935-1880.  The parish website is linked here.  Located adjacent to Jericho High School and across the road from the State University of New York at Old Westbury, the extensive grounds of the parish lie just inside the Village of Brookville.  The church was built in 1966.
