There are few changes in Nassau County.  At St. Thomas the Apostle, West Hempstead, Msgr. Francis Maniscalco will retire, and Fr. Anthony Stanganelli will move from St. Brigid to St. Thomas. The new pastor of St. Brigid will be Fr. John Sureau from Center Moriches.

At St. Christopher, Baldwin, Fr. Johnny Mendonca, administrator, becomes pastor.

Fr. Malcolm Burns at Corpus Christi is appointed to a second term.

Msgr. Francis Caldwell at Curé d'Ars is appointed to a second term.

A few days later, more Nassau changes were announced, also effective June 29, 2022.

Fr. Kevin Dillon from Sea Cliff to Carle Place as pastor.

Canon Regular Josef Norys from Glen Cove to St. Boniface the Martyr, Sea Cliff, as pastor.

 On May 9, 2021, the diocese of Rockville Centre listed some transfers of priests and some appointments of pastors effective June 23rd. I use the word "some" because more may follow. The link to this document is HERE.

Appointment of associate pastors, many effective 6.26.2019

Please see the list on the diocesan website, under Press Releases. The site drvc.org has been reformatted, but the list of appointed associate pastors is still on the previous format.

The top nine are priests apparently already working in the diocese, maybe still incardinated overseas.

The next group of eight newly appointed associated pastors seem not to have worked recently in the diocese of Rockville Centre. They may be categorized as Externs, still incardinated somewhere else.

The third group, numbering five, are to take their positions in September. 

Surnames from Ghana predominate.

A few months ago, I was surprised to learn that a priest cannot be incardinated unless he has been canonically excardinated (or released) by his previous bishop. It seems that, over the centuries, our church has had problems with wandering or vagabond priests. In the UK recently, a new Celebret document was created, almost like a driver's license with attempts to prevent forgery.

Pastoral appointments effective June 26, 2019

June 26, 2019, is moving day.
Our bishop has announced pastoral appointments. The link to the full list is HERE. New pastors in Nassau County are:
Fr. Seth, the outstanding priest met on the televised Masses at the cathedral, with clear, concise, illuminating homilies, is the new pastor of St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Wantagh.
Fr. Jeff Yildirmaz is the new pastor at St. Barnabas, Bellmore.
Fr. Christopher Costigan moves to St. Martin of Tours, Bethpage.
Msgr. Mark Rowan is the new pastor of St. Kilian, Farmingdale.
Msgr. Thomas Coogan goes to St. Dominic, Oyster Bay.
Fr. Brian Barr will pastor two parishes, adding Point Lookout to Our Lady of the Isle.
Msgr. Robert Clerkin to pastorate in Port Washington.
Fr. Joseph Fitzgerald to St. William the Abbot, Seaford.
Fr. Rony Fabien to St. Martha, Uniondale.
Fr. Adrian McHugh to St. Aidan, Williston Park.

One new administrator is Fr. Lawrence Onyegu to Blessed Sacrament, Valley Stream.

Msgr. James Pareda relinquishes one job, stays as pastor in Brookville.
Msgr. Robert Morrissey becomes Judicial Vicar.
Father Eric Fasano becomes Co-Chancellor (with Sister Maryanne Fitzgerald?) and Secretary to the Bishop.

Five new pastors in Nassau County

The Long Island Catholic has listed five new pastors of parishes in Nassau County (link HERE). These appointments by Bishop Murphy are effective June 29, 2016.  The parishes with new pastors are Corpus Christi (Mineola), Cure of Ars (Merrick), St. Martha (Uniondale), and St. Gertrude (Bayville). In what seems to be a change of titles, one priest will serve three parishes: pastor of St. Joseph (Hewlett) and Our Lady of Good Counsel (Inwood), and administrator of St. Joachim (Cedarhurst).

In Nassau County, I note new pastors for St. Boniface (Sea Cliff), St. Barnabas (Bellmore), Our Lady of Mercy (Hicksville), St. Mary (Manhasset), and St. Aloysius (Great Neck). About eighteen associate pastors moved to a different parish.

The Long Island Catholic website lists several changes of pastors, the appointments effective June 25, 2014.
The following Nassau County parishes will get new pastors:

Our Lady of Victory, Floral Park.
St. Edward the Confessor, Syosset.
St. Kilian, Farmingdale.

The Idente Fathers will serve Our Lady of Loretto, Hempstead.  This congregation administers a cluster of three parishes in The Bronx (St. Dominic, Our Lady of Solace, and Sta. Maria).
