Our Lady of Good Counsel church is at the corner of Wanser Avenue and Church Street in Inwood, Long Island, about a half-mile east of Far Rockaway, Queens. The mailing address is 68 Wanser Avenue, Inwood, NY 11096, telephone 516-239-0953. Inwood (not to be confused with Inwood, northern Manhattan) is in Nassau County. In April, 2011, the Long Island Catholic reported that the three parishes of St. Joseph (Hewlett), St. Joachim (Cedarhurst), and Our Lady of Good Counsel (Inwood) would be placed in some sort of unified care without being merged. In December, 2011, the Long Island Catholic reported that Father Moriarty, pastor of St. Joseph, would also be administrator of Our Lady of Good Counsel. "The parishes of St. Joseph, Hewlett, St. Joachim, Cedarhurst, and Our Lady of Good Counsel, Inwood, will work together to provide pastoral services."

When the parish was established in 1910, the congregation was mostly Italian. The devotion to Mary under the title Madonna del Buon Consilio arose in Genazzano, some thirty miles south of Rome, in the fifteenth century.
